My trip didn't record

  1. Check location permission: Settings → Apps → Odomo → Permissions → Location should be set to Allow all the time.
  2. Disable battery optimisation for Odomo (Android): Settings → Apps → Odomo → Battery → Unrestricted.
  3. On iPhone, Motion & Fitness must be allowed (Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness → Odomo).
  4. If auto-detect still doesn't fire, try tapping the “Start tracking” button manually; the issue is almost always a permission toggle.

Automatic tracking doesn't start on my iPhone

Apple does not allow third-party apps to wake on Bluetooth for consumer car stereos. Odomo uses iOS's motion sensors instead — it usually detects driving within the first 60–90 seconds. If it doesn't kick in, confirm Motion & Fitness permission is on and that you have granted background location access.

I want to change the rate for my vehicle

Vehicles → tap the vehicle → scroll to “Rate tiers”. Edit the pence-per-mile, add or delete tiers, then Save. For HMRC business miles the usual split is 45p for the first 10,000 miles per tax year, then 25p thereafter — Odomo sets this for you on new petrol/diesel vehicles. Electric vehicles default to 7p/mile (HMRC AER).

How do I restore my Pro unlock on a new phone?

Settings → “Restore purchases”. You must be signed in to the same App Store or Play Store account that made the original purchase.

I need to export my trips for tax

Reports tab → “CSV” (free) or “HMRC PDF” (Pro). Both include every trip, vehicle, category, distance, rate and claim amount.
